Jacobsen claims maiden WSS Pole Position at Sepang

Honda, Kawasaki and MV Agusta on row 1.

PJ Jacobsen (CORE Motorsport Thailand) has claimed the World Supersport Pole Position in today’s sole qualifying session at Sepang in Malaysia, the American lapping in 2.08.244s, close to the outright circuit best lap of 2.08.185s set last year by Kenan Sofuoglu.

0.180s separated him and Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) who will line up alongside his main title rival Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) who was third. The top 3 in the championship filling what will be row one for tomorrow’s 14 lap race.

Row 2 is made up of two Italians and a British rider as Roberto Rolfo (Team Lorini), Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) and Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) claimed 4th to 6th positions respectively, the top 6 covered by 1.002s. Zanetti and Rea posted identical times.

Kyle Smith crashed his Pata Honda at the midway point of the 45 minute session but his time sees him 7th ahead of Alex Baldolini who had another strong qualifying aboard his privately entered Race Department ATK#25 MV Agusta and Christian Gamarino (Team Go Eleven).

Tomorrow’s race will start at 1500 local time.
